Diabetic Foot

Podiatry

The diabetic foot is the complication of diabetes where the lack of blood irrigation is combined with neuropathy (affection of the different nerve fibers) and infection by alteration of immunity. A third of diabetic patients develop, with age, some clinical table at the lower limb. This is because there are high levels of sugar in the blood, which over time can damage nerves and blood vessels and can cause it to lose sensitivity to the feet (so that it does not feel a cut, a bottle or a sore that causes ulcers and infections).

Serious cases can even cause amputation. Prevention through periodic reviews is basic to avoid complications at the vascular, neuropathic or ulcerative level.
