Holter ECG

Cardiology

The Holter ECG is an electrocardiogram whose duration is extended over several hours.

Mainly, the moving electrocardiogram (Holter ECG) makes it possible to know the heart rate of the patient’s heart for many hours in a row. Thus, it is possible to observe how the heart reacts to different stimuli of everyday life to verify that the electrical activity is correct. In addition, it also allows to know if there are alterations in the patient’s coronary flow.

Regarding the placement of the Holter ECG, it is a small device that is attached to electrodes that are placed on the patient’s chest. This device, the size of which does not exceed that of a mobile phone, is attached to the patient’s belt or trousers.

The test usually lasts approximately 24 hours during which the patient goes about their normal life with the device attached to their body. The next day he goes to the cardiologist to find out how the heart rate has been during this time.
